The Upper Cage for Sony FX5 is a modular cage that includes:
A mounting cheeseplate that attaches with two 1/4-20 screws, has a swing-away HDMI clamp and included reduction inserts, and 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 holes with ARRI locating pins.
Attaches to the right side with a slot tab, 1/4-20, and M4 bullnose screw to provide additional 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 mounting points, along with a contoured thumbrest for easy camera gripping.
The base of the cage attaches to the camera with two 1/4-20 screws and a front lip to make sure the camera is aligned correctly. Mounting points on all sides make rigging easy, and a recessed area allows battery door access.
Below the base is an included ARCA dovetail with 3 lengths of 1/4-20 support posts for attaching to 3rd party lens adapters like Metabones, etc.
Side-loading rear filter lens adapters are compatible with the cage, as cage components do not obstruct the lens area.
If 15mm rods are needed, the ARCA Swiss dovetail attaches to the optional Baseline 15mm LW (Upper Cage Sony FX5), sold separately, to provide rods at the correct lens height.
